The workers' commissions union launched the campaign "are you working or studying?" to fight against abuses some trainees are subject to in businesses. The goal is to make aware over 100.000 union representatives of this problem and to remind them of the union's position regarding this issue. (Ref. 071015)
With this campaign, CCOO wants to denounce abusive practices towards young people following an internship, widespread both in companies and in public administrations, and to become known the union’s propositions to solve this problem. According to the CCOO’s estimations, about 200.000 trainees are currently performing an employee’s tasks, but they have neither the employment contract, not the corresponding pay. Monthly benefits for a Spanish trainee revolve around 400 Euros for a full-time job
