Sweden: an agreement in Scania covering recourse to temporary employment

The 2012 global ‘Volkswagen temporary work Charter (c.f. article No. 120713) has brought about this Swedish national version. An agreement over flexibility and employing temporary workers (bemanningsavtal) just signed by the Swedish vehicle manufacturer Scania includes a 10% ceiling for temporary workers as well as improvements in their working conditions. This agreement is fully aligned with the Volkswagen charter.

The agreement signed on May 25 between Scania and the IF Metall union (metals workers) primarily affects the vehicle manufacturer’s sites at Södertälje, Oskarshamm, and Luleå. It comes after two years of discussions that started in March 2013 and were further promoted when Volkswagen took on the group in April 2014.
