During a meeting organized on Saturday, September 4th, Sao Paulo metalworkers unanimously approved the 9% wage increase signed by the Central Workers’ Union (CUT, Central Unica dos Trabalhadores), car part makers and several other metalworking categories. The new collective agreement signed on Friday, September 10th, valid as of September 1st, affects 155,000 workers in the Sao Paulo region. In addition to workers in car part factories, several categories (smelting, metal shaving, refrigeration, rail equipment…) are affected by this agreement, but not the entire sector.
