France: agreement in metalworking to improve the forecast management of employment and skills in the sector

This agreement is in line with the cross-industry agreement signed in 2008 on that theme. In the preamble, the social partners specify that it doesn’t have to do with the need to reorganize the sector but with the need to adjust to technological, demographic and environmental evolutions as well as new globalization stakes in the metal sector. The agreement reads that the GPEC’s objective is to “evaluate gaps, existing or foreseeable” between the labor market and the sector’s skills needs and employees’ skills and professional longings. It provides that the sector has to help businesses with forecasting and anticipating employment and skills evolutions  and the implementation of HR action lines.
