The regional administrative court of Berlin Brandenburg confirmed a ruling of first instance rendered in March 2008. According to the judges, the federal government may not impose the rate of minimum wage negotiated by the Deutsche Post to all postal businesses. This is a major setback for the social-democrats, Ver.di – the services' union – and the Deutsche Post. (Ref. 081041)
The coalition in power in Berlin exceeded its competences by imposing the minimum wage negotiated by the Deutsche Post to the entire sector.
