Transnet and GDBA (more focused on employees who kept their civil servant status), who have been handling collective bargaining together since 2005 (Tarifgemeinschaft), presented, on March 17, 2010, in Berlin, their claims for the coming collective negotiations (late July). Alexander Kirchner, leader of Transnet and Heinz Fuhrmann, VP of GDBA, think the agreement should lead to a real wage increase, improvements regarding working time and compensation, as well as a pact on job security which should be restricted to “a protection against rationalization.” The pact will also have to include a quality chapter taking account of the ageing workforce.
