Portugal: social consultation breaks on the Employment Pact

Social tension.  The UGT, usually quite accommodating because the government is quite close ideologically, has adopted a new attitude.  This break in social dialog brings the union a little closer to the CGTP, while the two confederations presented a notice for a general strike on November 24th (see our dispatch No. 100710).  This is historical since there has only been one joint general strike since Portuguese unions were created in 1988.
