Spain: government presents draft labor market reform

After the controversy sparked off by the reform of the pension scheme and the government’s comings and goings around the issue of the possible extension of the duration of contributions (see our dispatch No. 100110), the government decided to do things without hasting and without short-circuiting the social partners. Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero therefore chose to let employers and union representatives hear its proposals first, and gave a joint press conference to announce the reopening of stable tripartite dialog, after several months of paralysis (see our dispatch No. 090819).
