UE : European insurance social dialogue re-launched

After the deadlock reached in 2004, since a joint declaration on qualifications and life-long learning could not be achieved,UNI Finance together with the European insurance employers stress the importance of social dialogue and agreed a procedure for future collaboration. (Ref. 070179)

At their meeting on 19 January 2007, the social partners – on the employers’ side CEA, BIPAR and ACME – formally revived the social dialogue based on a joint declaration setting out a procedure for future collaboration.

Participants identified the following issues as topical for insurance companies and trade unions:

  • integration of the social partners from the new member states;
  • safeguarding employment;
  • demographic development;
  • future of pension insurance;
  • restructuring;
