A year after WhatsApp, Google is testing the RCS button in My Business listings for several markets, according to our information. The goal is to offer brands a new marketing lever that can be activated directly from the search engine.

While the RCS format (Rich Communication Services is a Google product similar to an enhanced SMS with 2,000 maximum characters compared to 160 for a standard SMS, Editor’s note) is compatible with iOS devices in most markets (USA, Canada, U.K., Spain, France, Germany, Belgium) since September 2024, use has grown significantly in 2025.In France, since the end of 2025, the number of users reachable with this tool is now similar to WhatsApp, i.e., 50 million active users.
