Finnair wants to outsource the operation of some plans and lines. Faced with difficulties affecting the entire air sector, the company, which saw the average price of its tickets drop by 15% over the past few months, engaged into serious restructuring programs in 2009. Now, it wants to outsource the entire operation of two of its Embraer planes to Finncom Airlines, a Finnish private company. Finncomm should also take care of internal lines out of which Finnair, because of high structural costs, can no longer get profit. To justify these measures, the company explained that the wages Finncom gives pilots are 50% below those paid by Finnair. As the company’s major stakeholder, the State supports the restructuring program.
