The Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006, which came into force on 1 October 2006, promise to bring the most significant changes to UK employment law since the sex and race discrimination laws of the mid seventies. This note, made for e-europnews by James Davies of the Lewis Silkin lawyer cabinet (ius laboris), analyzes the impact of the new legislation for employers when it comes to hiring, remuneration, retirement and dismissals.
