“The union we need.” This was the slogan of the national assembly convened by the main independent unions which signed the “basic pact”: RdB, SdL Intercategoriale, Snater, Cub Informazione, Flaica Cus Lazio, Cub Varese, Cub Vicenza, Cub Scuola CentroSud, FLMU Cub Bologna and Turin, Cub Legnano Usi RdB Ricerca and many more CUB affiliates. They gathered to present the new unitary confederate union which will be born from their merger at a founding congress in the spring 2010. Congresses to disband the different unions involved with the project will be held within the coming months. Fabrizio Tomaselli, SdL leader, said that this was “the biggest innovation ever for basic unionism in Italy.”
