On 03 December, twenty or so employers’ bodies together with the Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl and Uiltrasporti unions signed an agreement that intends for the national collective agreement in the logistics sector to be renewed. The agreement also covers those working in parcel shipping and goods transport. The previous agreement expired at the end of 2015. This new agreement will cover 700,000 workers and salaries will rise by on average €108. In a first in Italy, it also defines a worker status for bicycle delivery workers. The agreement has gone before the workers for approval.
Salary increase. Following the signing of the agreement, the trade unions revoked their earlier call for strike action that had been set for 11 and 12 December. They welcome the fact the whole sector has been able to renew the agreement, in so far as some employers’ bodies had been seeking to distinguish separate sectors including logistics, goods deliveries, and shipping.
