Italy: unions’ reactions to the decree-law on the Berlusconi government’s emergency measures

The Berlusconi government adopted a decree-law which contains measures for the economic development, the simplification, the competitiveness and the stabilization of public finances (see our dispatch No. 080603). The government's "summer maneuver" is enjoyed by employers but not by the trade unions, notably the CGIL, saying that it is "gravely" attacking workers' rights. (Ref. 080605)

The decree-law No. 112/2008, enforced on June 25 (see our dispatch No. 080602), was welcomed by employers’ associations, who rejoiced with the amendments made to the Testo Unico.
