Portugal : commentary of the draft law reforming labor code

Provisions concerning individual employment relations. Portugal has assumed European compromises concerning flexicurity and has attempted to develop its own model of flexicurity. The regulation of the labor contract was the central point of the reform. The main idea behind flexibility in the workplace consists in the flexibilisation of the internal management of the company so as to render Portuguese companies more responsive to international fluctuations in demand and economic cycles. The fight against job precarity was another flag of the government.
